Prayers for Henna

We are asking for extra prayers for sweet Henna. This evening we learned a little more about her health conditions. We had been given her medical information but didn't know how to decipher it and luckily we have a friend from church who is a doctor and was willing to fill us in. Justin talked to Chris and I'm glad he did. He has a way of staying so calm. Me, not so much. I just hoped to hear that her condition wasn't a big deal. We are so thankful to have the information but knowing the seriousness makes getting her home to a loving family (hopefully us!) even more urgent.
Please pray for Henna. Please pray that she can feel God's presence right where she is, that we can get in touch with the right people as soon as possible about expediting our journey to her if that is what God's plan is for us, and that God keep her safe and healthy. We think it's wonderful, regardless of what happens that this precious baby has people all over the world that are specifically praying for her.

Social Worker

Yesterday, before leaving for vacation, I dropped by Bellefaire to change two things on our application. I was told that we were good to go and were already assigned a social worker! Our worker contacted us and we have an appointment for our first meeting the week we return from vacation :)

Baby Steps

We submitted the application for our local home study today. It felt so good to know we have made another (tiny) step toward our child. I also had the opportunity to speak with the director of the India program at JOH today. We had a good conversation and she was very patient with me as I asked a million questions that have been running through my mind. And, of course, as soon as we hung up I had a million more I could have asked!
I did find out that the little girl we are praying for is in one of the two Christian orphanages that JOH works with--it is very near a hospital which is reassuring. She also said she held Henna the last time she was in India--just a few weeks ago. So neat to know that she actually knows the child we have on our hearts! She relayed that the caregivers just adore her and that she is adorable and well loved and taken care of--that makes my heart happy! I asked for any additional information the agency has about Henna--birth date, location, medical history etc. so we will definitely be looking forward to that email!
We are trying to not get too excited or attached to Henna, but it is VERY DIFFICULT! I broke down and finally printed up a picture of her today. On the way to have dinner with friends tonight I pulled it out of my purse and surprised Justin. He said, "oh wow, she's even prettier that I remembered". Hearing him say that melted my heart. I guess I'm not the only one falling in love :)
